In 1914, Jacob Moreno wrote, “An Invitation to a Meeting”, a motto that served to inspire generations of psychodramatists and for people all over the world to consider the benefits of mutual relationship.  Role reversal, as Zerka Moreno says, is the “sine qua non” of the psychodrama method, so let us see what we can do in this international conference to be in the shoes of the other, and see and feel how, and in what way we work in our respective cultures or countries.

You are invited to attend the International Morenian Psychodrama Conference in Melbourne, Australia, March 2006.   This conference is created to celebrate and share what you are doing in your work, life and community that ‘Gives Life’.  Reflect for a moment on this sociometric question, “what kind of a world do you want to live in, and, what do you already do to bring this about?”   It may be that you walk in the gardens during the day, or gaze at the stars in the evening, so, what is it that serves the life process, that ‘chainless goal’ that brings the soul evermore into the world, and what are the psychodrama principles inherent in this?

With the twin principles of Spontaneity and Creativity in mind, this conference aims to further build on the work of Zerka and J. L Moreno, and our colleagues for the future welfare of our world and our relationships, person-to-person, group to group, country to country.

We invite presentations and proposals on the application of the method (psychodrama, sociometry, sociodrama, role training or role theory), including working with children and adolescents, mothers, fathers, families, couples, organisations, health and educational services and communities, by you; students, practitioners and trainers, who work from a psychodrama framework, on a day-to-day basis, in your training, work or life. Our conference is organised into ten streams: 1. child & adolescent health; 2. addictions; 3. education/professional development for teachers/student welfare; 4. sex, gender & health; 5. organisations: consultancy & diversity; 6. community development; 7. trauma & post-traumatic stress; 8. individual psychotherapy, counselling & pastoral care; 9. couple & family therapy; 10. training, supervision, research & group work.
